Data Network Solutions - Success Story - ASUIn 2003 Appalachian State University needed to upgrade the campus network to increase security, enhance mobility, and support the never ending onslaught of new IP connected devices. Working with DNS and Enterasys Networks, they achieved these goals and many more. Wrapped around a fully redundant, robust network core, Enterasys’ Policy enabled switching allows granular classification and shaping of network traffic down to the user. Registered, authenticated users get the access they need for the job they need to perform from anywhere regardless of connection type (wired versus wireless). Unregistered guests are allowed access but contained under a separate access policy isolating them from critical university systems. Included in the solution are a registration portal, scanning solution, quarantine capability and remediation tools.
